Spurs sign one millionth employee
September 29, 2005
Not content with having the world’s largest first team squad, London’s favorite underachievers have decided to flesh out the backroom staff as well. Following the appointment of Damien Comolli as Sporting Director, they’ve added PSV Eindhoven Academy Coach Ricardo Moniz as Skills Trainer (at last Robbie Keane will have someone to practice keepy-uppy with in training).
On the official Spurs website, Martin Jol casually informs the public that Moniz is ‘one of the few proteges of the skills training guru Will Coerver.’ No, we hadn’t heard of him either.
Keane to pack it in

And life gets worse for United…
After over a decade as the heart and soul of the most successful side in the history of the Premiership, Roy Keane had decided to move on at the end of the season. The 34 year-old has been Sir Alex Ferguson’s eyes, ears, and voice on the pitch and news of his decision surely caps off what has been a torrid month on and off the pitch for the Red Devils.
Not much else to say about it really. World class player, insane nutter, and accused attacker of teens. Hopefully his final season will provide us with a few more classic Keano moments, such as as the one to the right.
Lennon: BLAME ME (well, not really…)
September 25, 2005

Team spirit raises its head in unusual ways, but Spurs supporters can take heart from the support under-fire duo Jermaine Defoe and Robbie Keane are receiving from teamtes after the League Cup loss to Grimsby. Following Michael Carrick’s comments last week, wee Aaron Lennon (who put in one of the few credible performances that night) has come out and shifted responsibility for the loss to himself and the other midfielders for not creating enough - rather than any inability for Keane and Defoe to play together.

Sunderland end 26 match drought
September 25, 2005
Sunderland have ended their 26 match Premiership winless streak in the best possible fashion, with a deserved 2-0 derby victory over Middlesbrough at the Riverside. Boro may have been flying high after their win over Arsenal last week, but nothing brings the boo-boys out like a loss to newly promoted derby rivals who haven’t won in the top flight in 3 years.

Fergie criticizes ticket prices
September 25, 2005
Man United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has called for controls to be put on rising ticket prices around the Premiership.
‘Ever since I have come down to England, I have never understood how teams in London are able to increase their ticket prices depending on who they are playing.’ said Fergie, before moving on to criticize the government for not stepping in.
‘That should not be allowed. Why haven’t the Office of Fair Trading done something about it? What the hell do they do?
‘If some grocer puts his pound of sugar up a penny more than the guy next door he will probably get fined £3,000 or even closed down.’
It may be the first time the Scot has thrown his hat into the ring regarding rising ticket inflation, but the impact on Premiership fans and attendences has been debated for some time with a number of players and club officials speaking up.
