Team spirit raises its head in unusual ways, but Spurs supporters can take heart from the support under-fire duo Jermaine Defoe and Robbie Keane are receiving from teamtes after the League Cup loss to Grimsby. Following Michael Carrick’s comments last week, wee Aaron Lennon (who put in one of the few credible performances that night) has come out and shifted responsibility for the loss to himself and the other midfielders for not creating enough – rather than any inability for Keane and Defoe to play together.

Lennon was easily man of the match against Fulham, his pace and directness is what we need to see more of from midfield.
