Newcastle supporters’ dreams took a step closer to being realised as it was revealed that midfield legend Nicky Butt’s proposed move to Birmingham at the end of the season (he’s currently on loan) could be scuppered should the struggling club be relegated.
Toon chairman Freddy Shepherd told BBC Sport: “Nicky and his advisors insisted on a clause that he would not join Birmingham permanently if they lose their Premiership status.”
All tongue in cheek, of course, because Nicky Butt is just terrible.
