Slakr: Applaud Henry and wave farewell to Aragones, the Human Stain of Football
June 28, 2006
Slakr politely requests that those who’ve come out criticizing Thierry Henry for “diving” should shut the hell up. Here’s his justification.
So Thierry Henry grabbed his face as he went down after a stupid, stupid challenge by Carles Puyol. I’ll be the first to admit that there was no contact to his face, but its within reason to argue that he was actually fouled. And indisputable that it was completely unnecessary since he had already lost the ball. Maybe he was just holding his hands to his face in shock that a great defender like Puyol could be so stupid. Maybe the ref gave the yellow to punish Puyol for stupidity? Or maybe Henry has learned a little bit of gamesmanship finally? This furor is like the outburst when Stevie G dived to get a penalty during the World Cup friendlies. Like it or not, its now part of the game. And much as we wish some of the true heroes of the game didn’t subject themselves to this, we all wish for success a whole hell of a lot more.
And really, if France’s win was due to gamesmanship, there couldn’t have been a more deserving loser than Luis Aragones. I’m a Liverpool fan — I’d have loved to see Luis Garcia and Xabi Alonso achieve success on this stage. As a neutral, Puyol, Reyes, Raul, Villa, Joaquin and co. were among the most enjoyable players to watch, and yesterday’s game was a thunderous spectacle and a joy to watch. But as a human being, I couldn’t tolerate Aragones coming out on top of Henry, and unless you’re a Spaniard or a racist (and certainly on the evidence there’s a fair overlap in the consituencies), you should be glad that this worthless stain, this disgrace to football has shown his ability to fail with a team of spectacular talent. So instead of critisizing Henry, lets raise our glasses in a toast to whoever is writing the letter today that will kindly inform this bastard that his services are no longer needed. Maybe then all independent fans can proudly support a wonderous Spanish team next time a major tournament comes around?

Got something to say?

Excellent article and I totally agree. The behaviour of the Spanish following the race row has been ridiculous and I for one was glad to see the back of them last night.
Good on Henry as he had the last laugh and that Aroganes is having sleepless nights for being a total and utter failure.
He should be hung from a tree and be left to die…
Spot on mate. Like you, I am a liverpool lad and really wanted our boys to have a good world cup. But Aragones did deserve to kicked out. Should have been kicked out after his comments about Henry, so I suppose that says a lot for the Spanish FA
Liverpool fan too, aragones racist, no excuses for Henry though, dont like anyone doing it. Henry shouldnt need to, the faces he pulls on the pitch when anyone does anything he disagrees with, pure arrogance, then he pulls a stunt like that, glad it was caught on telly bit like Rivaldo in the corner against turkey, will be replayed for years and every time he can hang his head in shame.
Maybe Henry was just getting revenge for the Champion’s League final… these were his quotes after that game.
“So many times (Carles) Puyol should have got a yellow card, so many times (Rafael) Marquez came from behind to take my ankles.”
“Maybe next time I’ll learn how to dive.”
Turns out, they’re keeping him the arses.

Its pathetic to see how you bunch of people support cheats when it suits you’ll depending on who you’ll support. Liverpool fan here myself and I can tell you, I felt totally embarassed when Steven Gerrard fell to the ground without any contact last time.
Now its Henry with extra stunts by clutching his face @ Arjen Robben/Didier Drogba dive. You can say Aragones used racist comments on Henry last time and its justified, I think you can only beat someone like Aragones by proving you are a better player by playing better. What has he proved to Aragones end of the day? He’s a good cheat?
And of course its ok to cheat for you’ll today as its only part of the game right? Wait till it happens to England or an English team and I’m sure you’ll are the first to condemn the “so called” blatant cheating. Don’t be suprised you’ll get a taste of your own medicine when you guys meet Portugal, I heard the’ve got a few people there with Thiery Henry’s new found talent:)
the fact is and if you watch the replay there is no doubt it is a foul. the only issue is that henry held his face afterwards. this is being blown out of proportion as the three kick was no where near the goal and just like 15 others in a game. henry did not dive as it is being said it is a clear foul. puyol ran away from the direction of the ball and towards henrys direction, constituting intention to foul and a actual foul. i am not happy that henry held his face and i hope he does not do it again but we can not expect him to be perfect every second of his life and sometimes he will do things that he will hopefully learn from. coming up against puyol who relentlessy fouled him and tried to get him sent off in champsleague final by holding an imaginary card to the ref for fouls that were non-existent, then henry knows what type of player he is coming up against.
Well said mate. Aragones should burn in hell with all other racists.
Mates, lets not get over-reacted by Titi’s face grabbing action. To be fair i’ve never seen him doing such action before. Give him the benefit of doubt. It could be a natural reaction to cover his face in pain regardless of where the pain origin. Besides its the chest area so even if he’s to cover his chest critics will still say he suffered a “heart attack” from mildly a shove. So there you goes, say what you like. I thinh Titi’s still clean……..
The media has bin awashed wit titis act, though its appalling and blatant dives must be kicked out of football but why re we making a meal out of titis act afterall we ve seen worse and petulant cases of diving in this competition so far
Anon, you know and I know Henry did a dive. No use trying to justify that Puyol did a foul on him and it made him fall like a sack of patato’s like how Henry did.
It was a foul, no doubt about it. But it certainly did not warrant for Henry to fall like a lump of shit like he did, plus to make it more dramatic, he covered his face to corn the referee into thinking Puyol elbowed him. Anyone that watches football games often knows when someone really fell due to a foul and when someone decided its time to take a fall.
Its good though, now the WHOLE WORLD has seen what a scumbag Henry is and it will deffinately mark him for the rest of his playing career. Just look at Robben, he dived and it was aired over so many times that nowdays, even if Robben is genuinely fouled, the ref’s don’t bother thinking he’s taken a dive as ussual.
Pat on your back Henry, I hope Brazil teach you a thing or two about football. I hope you try that dive again against them and I’m sure the ref would be ready with a card as everyone now knows what a cheater cock Thiery Henry is!
Right chaps, a gooner here and it’s obvious Henry did the hollywood, but on hindsight i reckon it’s a first time for everything and trust me deep inside it was him and that old fool of the opposition having rekindled their hate for each other. I am for what Henry did and how many of you noticed how the old scum bag rascist was behind on the sidelines, showing his ape like ancestorial behavior, so i can clearly justify Henry’s action as an act of revenge not against the team but an old fool(aragones) who should be hung out to dry by possibly the whole of Spain and FIFA………….cheers and fight fair and njoy the rest of the world cup with peace and humanity…….
Well said re: Aragones. No one should be able to up hold rascism and work within a globally public position.
Regarding the football specific comment about pretending and feigning are part of the modern game and that we should accept it is unacceptable any rubbish, this should never be accepted and more than ever should be castigated and punished this is ungentalmanly conduct of the highest order and should be not be accepted at any point, shame on anyone that thinks otherwise.
:/
INTEGRITY AND MORALES ARE NOT KEPT EASILY, THERE VALUE IS PRICELESS THANK YOU PELE, BOBBY MOORE FOR BEING BOTH GREAT ON THE FIELD AND OFF.
John you dumb prick its obvious you hate Henry and are not making this comment as a neutral. Now go back to White Hart Lane and get ready to play the UEFA cup! I for one thought that Henry was hit in the face by Puyol when i saw the game live, then when i saw the replay it was obvious C. Puyol didnt touch his face. Thierry has always been a clean player and should be given the benefit of the doubt as he has not cheated in the past, if he does it again then i will judge.
there was contact, but lets make no mistake this was a pathetic girly dive and everyone who saw it knows it, this is one which will come back to haunt him, as its shown or talked about time and time again!
