McClaren Gets A Little Too Excited

It might see harsh to rain on Stevie’s parade after his first competitive match in charge, but we can’t help but feel he got just a tad carried away after beating a country that many people only found out today was in Europe.

In speaking to BBC Sport, McClaren said,

‘They were good goals against any opposition.’

‘Peter’s goal record is frightening and it’s great to see as well. ‘I am sure he will be disappointed not to have got another hat-trick because he had a good chance at the end as well.

‘If Crouchy gets the right service, he is going to put the ball in the back of the net because he is a great finisher. I hope he beats Bobby Charlton’s record.’

Now the win was certainly a fine one considering Sven taught us that even the best players can struggle against crap teams if the manager is an idiot, but if bettering the Swede’s reign is the measuring stick then we should probably pack it in now. Crouch is certainly on fire for England and Liverpool but when you’re managing a nation notorious for building players and teams up just to knock them down, a little humility and restraint might have been better in the long term.

But in any case, take that ANDORRA! Teach you to only join the United Nations in 1933 [Ed: Damn you, Google.]
