After 114 lovely years together, Liverpool are abandoning Anfield. The club has gotten approval to build a lovely 60,000 all-seater stadium, with a 999 (!) year lease for some land in Stanley Park, only 300 yards away from Anfield.
The first match at the new stadium pegged for 2009 and considering what Manchester United’s new stand is doing for their revenue, this must be great news for the club and the supporters, especially considering they aren’t really moving very far.
