They Call Him Mr. Glass

Shockingly, Jonathan Woodgate is injured. The Middlesbrough and former Newcastle defender has an “unspecified leg injury” and probably won’t be available to play in the weekend’s match against Everton nor, if recent history is anything to go by, the rest of the season,

“Jonathan Woodgate is doubtful for Boro’s game against Everton on Saturday after picking up a leg injury in training,” said a Boro statement.

“He is having treatment but is unlikely to be fit in time to face David Moyes’ men.”

With news that Michael Owen is on the mend, one from whatever he happens to be suffering from at the moment, one wonders at what point top clubs decide that paying massive transfer fees and wages for these two players ceases to be a good idea.

Our guess is never.

And in case you haven’t noticed, this is officially a Football News Drought. Wenger was right, international breaks are for suckers.
