Beckham Joins LA Galaxy For £500K A Week

Well, that didn’t take long. We swore off any more news on the “Beckham To The Premiership” story until its conclusion, and one day later here it is!

Beckham is finally buggering off from a terrible spell at Real Madrid to join the LA Galaxy of the MLS, but after all the rumours the surprise was not that he went to the US, fending off reported interest from the likes of Aston Villa and West Ham, but that the deal is reportedly a 5 year contract worth 128 MILLION POUNDS. Yes, 128 MILLION POUNDS. That’s almost 500K a week.

“After discussing several options with my family and advisers to either stay here at Madrid or join other major British and European clubs, I have decided to join the Los Angeles Galaxy and play in the MLS from August this year.

After winning everything there was to win with Manchester United, a return to the Premiership would have represented yet another slightly sad attempt to get his career back on track after his failure to win anything with England. But a move to the US allows him to reinvent himself not as a football player, but a football pioneer as Major League Soccer attempts to legitimise itself and make football a major sport in the US.

And in case you need another reason why he chose to head there, we’ll say it again…

FIVE YEARS. 128 MILLION POUNDS.
