We sure love our pre-match banter, and with all the attention on Bellamygolfgate, Barcelona midfielder Edmilson has stepped up to get the focus back where it belongs – slagging off the other club ahead of a big match,
“Steven Gerrard is a great player, a true worker with a lot of spirit and technique and one of the most complete players around. He is the face of Liverpool, the club’s identity.
“But you should know what – I think he should think about a new experience, otherwise, when you stop playing football you might think ‘what have I done? What have I accomplished’?
“You will see that you spent your whole life in the same place and wasted one hell of an opportunity to do new things and win titles.”
No doubt the “What have I accomplished” question will be answered by Liverpool supporters with a list of the various non-Premiership related trophies he’s won, but Gerrard does seem permanently torn between his ambitions to win everything in the universe and his love for the club. But, sadly for Edmilson for some reason, Gerrard seems taken with the plans their new American overlords have and will at least see out the next couple seasons.
