Is Nigel Reo Coker Worth Keeping At West Ham?

Posted by

After a season that saw West Ham’s captain booed and slated for his performances and a supposed lack of focus after interest from Arsenal and Manchester United, Nigel Reo Coker has handed in a transfer request after meeting with club officials and not hearing the re-assurances about his future that he wanted,

His slimy agent said,

“I can confirm that Nigel Reo-Coker has officially handed in a transfer request with West Ham United football club,” Finnigan told skysports.com

“Nigel hopes his future will be resolved in the next few weeks.

” I am surprised that a 22-year-old Londoner who is captain of his club is being allowed to leave.

“As I said on Sky Sports in January, Nigel would get his head down and work to keep West Ham in the Premiership.

“And that is exactly what he did with 100 per cent commitment.

“At the end of the day he never felt wanted but I am sure he will have a bright future elsewhere.”

Reo Coker’s performances were toss at the start of the season, but so were the club’s as a whole. We didn’t watch him intimately, so we can’t say whether he really did play like his “head was turned” or if it was merely frustrated Hammers looking for a scape goat.

That said, the transfer rumour kings like Tottenham and Newcastle have already been linked to him and he’ll find no shortage of suitors willing to gamble that he can recreate the form that put him on the verge of the England squad.
