West Ham Beat Tottenham To Scott Parker

May 31, 2007

Yesterday the news broke that West Ham were close to signing Scott Parker from Newcastle for around 8 million. Reports today are now suggesting that the club also fended off late interest from Tottenham, who were looking to complete round off their army of central midfielders.

We would have thought Scott Parker was the kind of player Allardyce would have liked, aggressive, hard working. But he may not have the tactical discipline that ol’ Sammy wants, choosing instead to run about aimlessly and throwing himself in the general vicinity of the ball. Or maybe he’s crap, which is what some of our Geordie supporting mates have been ranting about for a while now. It’s always hard to tell with them.

This is also just an excuse to use this photo which, real or not, is still very amusing.

Surprising how an extra £20k a week can get you to sign for relegation battlers as opposed to your boyhood team in Europe and one of the big five.

If Spurs really did want Scott Parker, do you really think he would have chosen West Ham over Tottenham?

One club is moving forward with exciting players and are in Europe, the other, poor old West Ham struggled with relegation, have an alcoholic manager, and hope by throwing money at the problem will solve it. West Ham still have to wait for the outcome of the tribuneral which could mean they play in the fizzy pop league next season.
Pure media rubbish, or Scott Parker is a money grabber with no ambition.

You lot are talking rubbish! Why would he go to play for spurs when he wouldnt get first team football? And the only reason he wanted to go to West Ham is to work with Curbishly again.

And Wendy…Wendy Wendy Wendy…West Ham aren’t going to be in the ‘Fizzy Pop’ League are they, because the Premier League are not going to change their decision.

I thought I did not know much about football but you have proven me wrong, thank you Wendy.

One of the big five? Your having a laugh! Tottenham could not win a trophy if they were the only team in the competition.

Scott Parker is joining a club with ambition. I don’t call 15th place ‘relegation’.

Who is an alcoholic manager? Who says he is getting an extra 20k. Tottenham never wanted to buy him in the first place.

West Ham are a Premierleague club. Sheff utd are just making excuses for their abysmal season. Tottenham were allegedly after Nani. Did he move for money or for trophies?! I wonder why he chose Man Utd over a little club in London.

I couldnt care less where that useless carthorse went, as long as its not Spurs.

He showed his colours when he went to Chelsea then followed more ££ to Newcastle - the graveyard of all players. Even the geordies dont rate him.

    1. Would you rather have Zamora than Berbatov?

I would like to say, without any ambiguity that Spurs *are* a better and bigger club than West Ham under any measure that can be applied. Now, in history and in terms of promise for the future. I couldnt manage more than one goal for Spurs when I played there and the only team shite enough to let me score was West Ham. as for season highs, we will have to disagree over this one because i cant see how a relegation battle can be more enjoyable than “nearly” getting there is 1 of 3 cups and securing 5th spot and european football again. but then again i guess i havent been in that situation so i wouldnt know how it feels (btw no sarcasm was meant in that last bit, i honestly haven’t)

Yet another negative attack on Tottenham by this site , makes the BBC and teamtalk.com look very good , proper sites with reporters who actually go out and find stories rather than sitting online and copy/pasting stories from other sites in the style of caughtoffside .

This site owner needs to grow up and just go out and make a Arsenal fans site rather than trying to run a unbiased football site

You cheat relegation because of a weak and compliant PL and have the shame to crow about it, and now are proud to have signed a carthorse who even the useless toon dont want. Thats progress for you. Well done you.

Well, whenever you are ready to win the league, maybe it might be a better idea to just start by winning a few games eh? Rather than continually making a tit of yourself spouting about what west ham are gonna do only to be humilated year after year when your team fail annually.

I gotta give it to you lot, you really will take levels of humilation that even the torture guards at Guantanamo wouldnt use on terrorist suspects and you keep coming back for more.

The Spuds just ruin quality players’ careers! Take a look at Murphy and Jenas for example, both players have got worse and worse since they’ve been at the club. The Spuds have about five hundred midfielders, most of them distictly average and Parker just didn’t want to be another one who’s career went down the loo like the rest of them.

At West Ham, Parker will be joining a club with huge potential, more than most in fact. He obviously already knows Curbs from his days at Charlton, so that was also an attraction for him. We already have some quality players and more will be arriving this summer. It looks very likely that we’ll be moving to a 60,000-seater stadium within the next few years (extremely difficult to get tickets at Upton Park even when we’re at the bottom) so things are looking very exciting in the East End.

Hopefully Parker will find the same form he had at Charlton and will score a few goals like he used to do.

I’m just looking forward to seeing who else we bring in this summer after the Parker transfer is concluded.

Three or four more quality players as well as shipping out the crap and overrated pests (e.g. Reo-Joker) then we could see a top six finish next year…

What a load of crap I have just been reading!

If Tottenham wanted Parker we would get him just like we did when you tried to sign the likes of Malbranque, Chimbonda last year.

The reason Parker may join West Ham like the reason he joined Newcastle is the stupid wages you are paying. You telling me Lucas Neil joined West Ham because he wanted to play in a relegation scrap instead of playing CL football at Liverpool - clubs like Tottenham dont have to pay top dollar to get quality players…Berbatov is on 22k a week where West Ham probably have Boa Morte on double that…we are in a different league to you hammers and our history are worlds apart - how many trophies have you won? Didnt you take an open top bus round the east end when you won the playoffs? Could you imagine a proper football club with real traditions ever doing that?

West Ham will always be a club for Tottenham scrap while we pick up your better players…A lot of West Ham fans wont realise that the Great Bobby Moore was desperate to sign for Tottenham prior to the 1966 world cup but Greenwood wouldnt let the deal go through which meant that Moore wouldnt have been allowed to play in the world cup because he wasnt contracted to a club…he regretfully had to sign a new one year deal so he could captain England. Never mind Bobby you are the one that got away; it didnt take your friend Martin Peters long to see the light and take the step up to White Hart Lane!

First of all, I will disregard everything posted by ‘Wendy’ ( in true Mike Newell style ), obviousley a sad little dyke yid who is unloved and spending far too much time online ( go out and get a girlfriend/boyfriend, cucumber.
This delusion of ‘big 5′ comes from a psychological need to be part of something which you are NOT elligible ( as confirmed by every biased, unbiased contributor and pundits ). By scraping into 5th spot in the league a few seasons whilst the teams above with the only realistic chance of winning it hardly think of you as a threat.
When the yids do appear to get something good going they inevitibly fuck it up and soon return to the status quo of mid table mediocracy.
The reasons for this are :
    - You cannot keep your best players because they will always want to play for a ‘big’ club and win things.. ( Campbell, Carragher, Kanoute soon to be Berbatov )
    - There is obviousley something wrong with the culture of your club, management and selves. All of us know that you have to have been severly bullied/abused when young to somehow become a yid but, bless them, your decent foreign players, due to lack of good advice, don’t figure this out until after they’ve signed. Once they do, they’re off.

You are idiotic filth barely deserve to be put straight as we know you’ll never learn, but, like patience is required to help special needs kids, people have to take this approach with a yid - pat him on the head and tell him ‘it’s not your fault you are how you are’, just don’t turn your back on them!

As was said earlier if spurs signed parker he would be a (good) squad player, however at west ham he has the chance to be a first team regular. Spurs dont need any good squad players though, we have players in the first team who are inexperienced but with great potential who need time to develop, thats why we need to sign some key first team players. Parker would not add to the development of the team, he’d just be rotated.

Maybe we have to offer players higher wages. We are not as good as Tottenham at the moment, everyone knows that. But guess what, when we have signed a few more quality players to add to the ones we already have, there is no reason why we wont be better than you are. And then the situation will be reversed.

And on to your players. They are f*cking overrated. Bale, 10 million? Give me a f*cking break. Also, how much did you have to pay him to choose you tossers over Man U or Arsenal? I would love to know.

Lennon, too, overrated as fuck. Great pace, no end product. Just see what a difference it made for England when Beckham was on the right and not that ugly ex Leeds scum yid.

Dawson? No better than Collins. I am quite serious. Same with Huddlestone, a good passer, and thats it. I would choose Noble over him any day.

The only quality player you have is Berbatov. I bet you will be hoping he stays longer than Carrick did.

Spurs are the biggest team outside the Top 4. We are the team that is going to be challenging for Champions League next year.

West Ham are going to be top 10, maybe pushing for UEFA Cup football if they get lucky.

Only West Ham fans would be deluded enough to think anything different. We WILL finish above you next season, that much isn’t even in doubt.

“Darren Bent has set his heart on a move to White Hart Lane according to reports over the weekend despite West Ham offering him £60,000 a week.

The News of the World claims Bent is determined to join Spurs ignoring the advances of West Ham because he wants to link up with Dimitar Berbatov.

The paper quotes Bent as saying:

“West Ham have offered me incredible money but I’m convinced Berbatov is staying at Spurs and I’d love to play alongside him.

“I believe we could form a great partnership.”

Bent would be mad to join us lot and end up on the scrap heap with the likes of Murphy, Defoe, Huddlestone and what have you…

Let’s be honest, all we do is ruin players careers… I mean, wasn’t Jenas a good player once?!?!

Most fans outside London regard West Ham as the bigger club than Spurs so it is no surprise to me that Parker would want to go to the club with the larger fan-base.

I couldn’t care less what fans of other clubs think. At the end of the day, West Ham has everything in place to become a massive club over the next decade.

We’ve had the odd moment of glory but our best years are yet to come. In three years or so we’ll have a 60,000-seater stadium, and if we’re a top six side at the very least we’ll pack it out every week. Not many teams could do that, even Chelski would struggle.

West Ham still have a much bigger fan-base than Chelski, we can definitely compete with them within the next few years.
