David Nugent was supposed to be a dead cert to wear the Everton shirt (woo rhyming) for next season. The Premiership rumour mill was in full force and revelations – from the lad himself – that he and his entire family are Everton supporters made a deal seem all too predictable.
But Manchester United boss in waiting Roy Keane has apparently moved first in a bid to bring the lad to Sunderland instead with Sky Sports reporting a bid, possibly in the region of 5-7 million, has been made.
