Bad News For Chelsea, Good News For Man United and Liverpool

June 30, 2007

The man who almost single handedly won Chelsea matches last year as they lagged behind Manchester United in the Premiership and Liverpool in the Champions League, striker Didier Drogba, is in a bit of a pickle over his future at the club,

“You want to know if I will still return to Chelsea? I will reply to that when I am ready. For now I am having a deserved vacation,” he told The Sun.

“I love the English league and may not be in a hurry to leave England if you insist.

“But it’s difficult to really predict what I want to do in the next week.

“I have been working hard and would love to win the Champions League with Chelsea.

“But, for now, let’s just wait and see. I’m at the last big turning point of my career.

“It’s time for one final big choice: ‘Should I stay or should I go?’

“I am tempted to discover another world and to see what footballing life is like outside England.”

Considering how influential Drogba was last season, the last thing Chelsea need in their attempt to regain their Premiership title, or win the Champions League, is to lose Droggers. Other than Didsy, Jose Mourinho hasn’t found a striker who can put the ball in the back of the net regularly and hold the forward line like he wants them to. Andriy Shevchenko, Hernan Crespo, and Eidur Gudjohnsen are just some of the names to have come and gone up front.

Chelsea fans often talk about Drogba being the best striker in the world with the most complete set of all-around skills to offer up front. One of a kind.

So what happens if he leaves?

Drogba is alright, he works hard but he was a slow learner because he struggled in his first 2 seasons.

He was 26 when he came so mourinho knew that if he persisted with him, he’d deliver. But why is drogba in a hurry to leave. He pretends like he’s been there longer than lampard.

As a liverpool fan, I could care less if drogba leaves or not. With the money chelsea have, or whatever they can raise from sales of swp, robben or drogbizzle…they can bring in a colossus from somewhere else. Maybe tevez :| Of the 4 english teams linked with carlos…chelsea is probably one of them.

if drogba goes they’ll just go in for sammy eto’o for 30+ mil. i hope a deal for drogba comes late and they lose out on tevez and eto’o, then they’d be stuck. theres always bellamy, or defoe possibly on the market :)

Since when has club loyalty ever been apparant in more then a handful of players? I think he’ll stay, he’s adored and admired by everyone at the club, earning incredible amounts of money, he’s considered the top striker in England at the moment, why on Earth should he leave? He’s said he loves it at Chelsea, and you can never be certain that the quotes printed are the real thing. Im more concerned with Lampard at the moment.

there’s as much chance of drogba leaving as there is liverpool, arsenal and spurs challenging for the title!

Gee, how ironic, an idiot bashing upon an ‘idiot’. Something tells me Drogba has a better intellectual capacity to type better.

As I understand it those clubs are in the Premier League and, hence, challengers.

by that logic sunderland are also title challengers! altho they probably have as much chance of winning the prem as loser-pool. maybe another lucky cup run and a season full of droning on about history - while other clubs go about making it - is all we’ll get from the scousers this year… as usual.

That’s like saying that Liverpool supporters are human by virtue of being biped.

Drogba loves stringing the English media along with his colourful comments. I can see him leaving to play in Spain or Italy in a season or two though. There’s nothing sexy about English football. Nothing sexy about English anything.

People like you shouldn’t be allowed to take part in discussion forums. You should have been drowned at birth. I bet you’re the sort of imbecile who travels abroad wearing an England shirt, drinking too much beer and spouting racist views to all and sundry, and then vomiting at the side of the road. Why don’t you crawl back under the rock you emerged from, you utter twat.

Hi-de hi, its summer again - time for totally ridiculous open season speculation again. Consistently high achievers like Chelsea, Man U, Celtic, Milan and Barcelona stay at the top by holding on to the backbone of their squads. Cech, Lampard, Terry, J.Cole & Drogba have been key in our back to back prem titles, and in my view Drogba will stay to help reclaim the prem title and champions league for 2007/8 season.

So another contest between the Blues and Man Utd for the title, with Arsenal finishing third, despite no Henry. Spurs, Bolton or Newcastle can slog it out for 4th, 5th and 6th, so let’s hope that Scouse whingers stay true to form and draw 8 of their 10 initial premiership games again, and they can fight out the last UEFA cup place with Reading and Everton. Come on Reading…!
