This time, COS reader and Manchester City supporter Malcolm is just getting used to the billionaire-owner circus.
As a long suffering Man City fan (are there any other kinds) I have gone through a myriad of emotions this summer ranging from fear to mild excitement.
Yes we have a manager with some semblance of ability, albeit at the cost to his somewhat troubling reputation which was so tarnished by an indifferent spell in charge of the English national team. Yes we have a new owner, who is at best is shady and at worst a criminal, but no matter at least we have some cash to splash so who have we been linked to? And who are we likely to have running around in City blue shirt.
We have been linked with a Swede I’ve never heard of, who just happens to have scored a few goals for French Giants Toulouse (please not ironic use of word Giants), and he might cost 9m! why!
Another player we are keen on signing is Owen Garvan (who he)?…of Ipswich! Who needs Torres, Tevez or Henry! We may not have even started yet, and of course progress will take time but with such good time ahead surely with Sven and alleged millions behind us we could aim a tad higher?
Another one I am hearing a lot about is the legend that is Alan Smith? Please lord tell me this is a joke? He makes Darius Vassell look like a goal machine, he makes Samaras look half good, my god he even make Corradi seem like the next Pele! He makes Joey Barton seem mild mannered. Alan Smith is a flop, one good game against Roma does not make you a star, if he signs for us I will eat my season ticket, in fact if he signs for us I will eat a season ticket each time he scores, as long as someone gives me a tenner every time he gets himself booked for acting like the thug he is!…i am not a fan of his, lets just leave it at that!
Other top quality names linked with us this summer in no particular order of importance or lack of, Zoltan Gera, Paul Konchesky, Christian Wilhelmsson (showpony who likes to dive) Nicolas Anelka (oh no he opted against it), Michael Owen (ditto), Kieran Richardson (oh lord this is not happening)
Why can’t we get some good players? We are not THAT bad! Not yet.
