Three clubs – Newcastle, Portsmouth and Rangers – have been raided by police with some sort of corruption scandal brewing,
A City of London Police spokesman said: “We can confirm that search warrants were served at three football clubs and the homes of two individuals in connection with corruption in football and its impact on owners and shareholders.”
No word yet on the extent or nature of the alleged crimes, or that anyone is even looking guilty. But if there was one thing you could choose not to have your football club be involved in, “corruption scandal” probably ranks pretty high. It looks more like some individuals taking advantage of their positions rather than the clubs themselves paying off midget hookers as part of the transfer budget or something, so chances are this will one will go away without much bother.
