Latest Transfer Rumours: Manchester City, Tottenham, Everton, Newcastle, West Ham, Blackburn, Arsenal, Bolton and Chelsea

The world of Premiership transfer gossip is full of nonsense, but some nonsense is more interesting that the other nonsense. Speculation is rife in the likes of the Mirror, Daily Mail, Times, Sun and… err… Tribal Football all do their best to predict and/or completely make up the future.

Here’s our opinion on the Premiership transfer rumours we’ve read in the papers and around the net… and if you have any thoughts, pop em in the comments.

CaughtOffside Says: Oop, seems like someone read our guide! Or they may have a team of professional scouts. Either way…

Everton have secured a work permit for Steven Pienaar.

CaughtOffside Says: Brought through the Ajax youth system which means he’ll join Mikel Arteta as the only players at Everton training who can play keepy upppy for more than 6 seconds.

Kieron Dyer will stay at Newcastle because of Joey Barton’s injury, despite interest from West Ham and Tottenham.

CaughtOffside Says: Dyer is staying because of his fitness? Sounds like a great plan.

Everton are one of several English clubs chasing Rosenberg striker Daniel Braaten.

CaughtOffside Says: A Champ Man legend (or FM) if there ever was one. But apparently he’s quite decent in real life as well, a goal getter in the vein of anyone not named James Beattie.

Juventus are set to bid £3m for Arsenal defender Phillipe Senderos.

CaughtOffside Says: We’re torn, 3 million for Senderos somehow seems far too little and far too much at the same time. Guess that’s what happens when you look dominant one week, and then become Didier Drogba’s bitch the next.

Bolton are in talks about signing Sweden winger Christian Wilhelmsson.

CaughtOffside Says: What happened to all Swedes heading for Manchester City? If Sammy Lee can get Wilhelmsson to sign at the Reebok despite interest from…well, anyone really… then we’ll consider not betting our house on Bolton’s relegation.

Blackburn striker Jason Roberts has pledged his future to the club and says team-mate Benni McCarthy is also staying at Ewood Park.

CaughtOffside Says: Not bad at all for Hughes, Blackburn have a strong starting eleven who will go as far as fitness and injuries permits. If they can hang onto their stars and finish top six next season they might have enough cash to deepen their squad and stabalise. But if not, then look for a bit of a clearout next summer.

Chelsea midfielder Claude Makelele has turned down offers from Villarreal, PSG, Olympiakos and the MLS to stay at Stamford Bridge.

CaughtOffside Says: Fantastic news for Chelsea and we’re surprised no Premiership club went in for him. Despite the fact that he’s 64, having Makelele to help groom the youngsters and play the odd match when you need to shut up shop will be a nice option for Mourinho.
