Tottenham Stars Fit For Arsenal Clash, Does It Even Matter?

Tottenham have been given a timely boost for Saturday’s North London derby game with the news that Darren Bent and Aaron Lennon are both fit to face the Gunners. Martin Jol told the Daily Mail:

“Darren is back and looked in good form. He did everything in training with us. We’ve got Aaron back as well. He trained last week and is looking good, although he lacks a bit of match fitness so that’s a decision we have to make.”

Bent last played in a goalscoring display against Derby and Lennon hasn’t featured all season, so their return will be welcomed by Spurs fans. But with Arsenal comfortably nestled on 10 points, unbeaten with three wins and a draw, whilst their rivals listlessly languishing towards the bottom with 3 losses, 1 draw, and ony one win (against Derby County), will their return really give Spurs what they need to beat their North London rivals for the first time in over 1 million cubic years?

It’s one of those famous ‘corners’ that require being turned for both clubs, if Wenger can mastermind another win at White Hart Lane it will give his young side plenty of confidence to go from strength to strength. Martin Jol will be looking to put an end to some of the calls to boot him out and a first win against the Gunners will probably hand him the Spurs job for life or something. Anything less and the misery continues.

The league fixtures have a weird way of putting together such perfectly timed grudge matches and it’ll be a nice way to put an end to the eternal boredom of International fixtures.
