One of the most hilarious things you can do if you have the time, is dig out the dog-eared season preview supplements that came with pretty much every newspaper and magazine and look at the predictions that pundits and fans alike gave. Arsenal, by many ‘expert’s’ estimation were going to struggle to get into the top four – especially without talismanic Thierry, and as for Tottenham, well they were going to mix it with the big boys, Les Ferdinand predicted 3rd place for Spurs and an FA Cup win. Well, so far things haven’t quite turned as people thought. Arsenal are top, and Tottenham are… well, not, to put it nicely.
And now Thierry Henry has thrown his two cents in and predicted that his former club can win the lot. Henry said:
“I have been watching Arsenal and see that they are playing entertaining football and winning every game home and away. I know the young players there very well and they can definitely win the Premier League and Champions League this season.”
Oh how different history could have been had Spurs held their nerve, and their dinner, two years ago and pipped Arsenal to the fourth Champions League spot. But as it stands the balance of power in North london doesn’t look like shifting for a while.
