Liverpool Could Announce Annual “New Signing” Ready For Everton

That’s right, it’s that time of year again when Rafa Benitez, the Liverpool staff, and fans all get excited about a new arrival. Well sort of: antipodean cripple Harry Kewell will be popping in for a few cameo sessions as a new option on the left wing before he goes back to injury land. The countdown has begun before someone says it’s “just like having a new signing”.

There must be something in the water up in Merseyside, and with the derby looming next week every injured forgotten player at both Everton and Liverpool seem to be dragging themselves back into the frame. Everton will boast Gravesen, Cahill, and even Van der Meyde back on their training pitches this week and Benitez’ achievement in bringing back Harry Kewell from his multiple injury ‘mares surely warrants a manager of the month award at the very least.

Benitez has proudly announced that he thinks Harry Kewell will join in with full-scale training next week. Kewell hasn’t so much as flung himself to the floor in search of a free kick this season, as he hurt his groin whilst playing for Australia in the summer.

Benitez told the Liverpool website that :

“Harry has been working really hard with the physios and next week he could be training or running with the rest of the first team.”Harry is very important for us. A player with pace and ability who can score goals is always going to be important. It’s clear he’s someone with great quality and experience and we need these kind of players for the rest of the season.”

You need Kewell for the rest of the season Rafa? Liverpool’s title hopes take another blow.
