Tottenham’s Calamity Paul or Arsenal’s Mad Jens - who would you choose?

October 15, 2007

Which of these two bumbling ‘keepers would you entrust with goalkeeping responsibilities at your club? Whilst Robinson adds to his horrendous error portfolio pretty much every time he plays, Lehmann stood out like a sore thumb at Arsenal, doing a very passable Richard “Some Mother’s Do ‘Ave ‘Em” Wright impersonation.

Englands #1 gaffe king, Paul Robinson, has seen as many clean sheets as an inveterate bedwetter this season but, perhaps buoyed by McClaren’s “he’s our Schmeichel” rhubarb, Robbo thinks he can handle the Russians, especially with the help of some leggings.
Robinson told the Daily Mail:

“I am going to wear some kind of leggings or tracksuit bottoms to prevent burns and grazes. They will also help me slide across the top of the astroturf rather than dive and just stop still. The only thing is the way the ball bounces. As silly as it sounds, they may water the pitch but that will bring the ball on to you and it will be better for goalkeepers.”

On the other side, Jehns Lehmann has had an atrocious season, and is now playing second fiddle to Manuel Almunia - both of these goons could be dropped in goal and they’d still concede goals like it was going out of fashion. Whereas Robbo and Jens are both prone to regular mistakes, Jens has the market cornered in egotistical lunacy. Robinson may be confidently predicting a masterful performance between the sticks, whilst cavorting around the goal in leggings, but Lehmann actually thinks he is still Arsenal’s #1… So which of these two would you go for?

Hate spurs, but I hate Jens even more, never seen such an unpleasant character in sports ever….

Robinson seems to be the opposite, I´d take Paul, but he MUST loose a couple of k´s…lol.

ok jens made two howlers, but has been consistant over the years, but robinson he has seal hand, the guys handling is so poor i wouldnt trust him to dial 999 if someone was injured.

i mean last season the guy conceded over 50 goal and this season over 18 goal in under 10 games,

whats worst he made 4 mistakes in one game 4-4

Robinson is having a bad time but Englands no1 gaffe king title will always belong to david james. Robbo is much better than lens his biggest problem is the spurs defence and/or the defensive tactics/training implemeted by the spurs coaching staff namely martin jol.

Although both are fucking terrible at the moment… I’d still prefer Jens between the sticks, rather than Blobbinson!

Jens has made 2 very arrogant, cock ups this season, due to switching off or trying to take the ball round a player on the 1st game of the season!
Blobbinson has made some sort of error or cock up, in nearly every game he’s played this season…
David Seaman must be scratching his head at the mo., after all the stick he took, towards the end of his career… why isn’t Blobbinson, getting the same?

Bit of a no brainer, isn’t it? Jens may be absolutely insane and confrontational, and has made two rather large gaffes, but in form he is an outstanding keeper and he has achieved more in his career than Robinson has or ever will.

    Current form.
Lehman’s Club Form = Arsenal top of the league!
Lehman’s Int. Form = Qualified, with 2 games left!

Blobbinson Club From = Spurs in 17th! (ha ha ha)
Blobbinson Int. Form = Likely to have to go, to the last game, in the group!

Experience wise, it would have to be Lehmann again! Let’s not forget, he was in the Immortal team! What exactly has Blobbinson won?
    FUCK ALL!!! THAT’S RIGHT!!

Anyway, I’m not backing Lehamnn anymore, because I don’t want or think, he’ll get back the number 1 jersey, back from Almunia… but in my opinion, I’d rather have a washed up, past it Lehmann, than the current England’s number 1 (joke & pie eater!)!

We can’t comment on Lehman’s Arsenal form, right now, because he’s been injured… but for Germany (which he’s played every game) he’s been almost impeccable!

You’re all talking about Lehmann like he’s been Mr. Reliable since joining Arsenal…well i remember how poor he was until last season - a total liability.

While Robbo has had a very poor season, and wasn’t on top of his game last term, he’s also shown his quality in the past for Spurs and 2 seasons ago was absolutely on fire - it’s what got him the England No.1 shirt in the first place (with a little help from James).

I believe Robinson will recover to show everyone his quality again. He just needs confidence, and for the media to leave him alone for a while. For someone to suggest he hasn’t had the same treatment Seaman got from the media is ridiculous…i haven’t seen such a spiteful and knee-jerk media campaign against a player for years.

Oh, and some of the name calling and petty squabbling on this page is pathetic. Both sets of supporters should grow up.

Let’s agree on that, at least… but in my opinion (which is what this article wanted people to express), I think Blobbinson has made far more errors, in the past 12 months, than Jen’s has! That, and Lehmann’s experience, tips him for me!

That’s all I have to say on the mater…!

Robbo has set a new record 12 clean sheets in the last 16 games unless i miss heard on sky, a year of competative games conceeding none regardless of the oposition, no other English keeper has done this.

It was 12 months ago that neville’s dumb pass hit that divot an robbo missed it, wasnt all his fault, if the divot hadnt of been there im sure he wouldnt of miss kicked, however he should of got something on it!

So since then he has conceeded 0 in 9 games an although he has been crap for spurs this season, i think id still rather have him than some jumped up, cheating, arogant german pr*ck in goal!!

Easy: Play the long ball like spurs you would go for Robinson. The only thing he can do is kick the ball.

I would go fuckin ape if I was a horrible yid cunt and saw his name on the team sheet, so I can only imagine what millions of english must think, me I find it hilarious, the biggest joke of 2007, the laughing stock of english football gets backing from jol and mclaren, HILARIOUS!!!!!

JENS is a proper keeper. Surely it is an insult to even try and compare him with Robinson. Heaven knows why James is not in goals for England.

JENS is hated by the English media and that is no fault of his own. Its understandable because he is foreign. The media hate all foreign players and they try to do their best to persuade every football person to do the same.

The only foreigners they liked were stooges Maurinho and JOL. Why because they fight other foreign managers for no good reason - Murinho/Wenger, Maurinho/Banitez, JOL/Wenger

    My Dear CEG,
One really must try and construct logical and coherent arguments. As you have quite rightly pointed out, one cannot comment on Lehman’s current form, as he has been injured. We must therefore conclude that on current form Robinson is the better keeper (one cannot reach any other logical conclusion). If we look at Lehmanns career he has indeed been more successful than Robinson. Both goalkeepers are prone to errors. Which would I choose? Neither.

PS: Calling him Blobbinson is petty playground name calling. Do grow up, don’t call people son and if we are talking about grammar try to avoid the use of ampersands and exclamation marks in your writing.
