Newcastle Boss Wants To Put An End To Whimpering Away ‘Performances’

Today BIG Sam has a BIG problem, his players need to learn to play away from home. We all know that the ritzy and glamorous city of Newcastle, indeed the north east of England as a whole, is one of the most beguiling areas on the planet.

The Toon manager thinks that their dire away record is putting undue pressure on them, and they need to try and replicate their home performances. Allardyce said:

“We have put huge pressure on ourselves, after back-to- back (home) wins, to win another home game and put ourselves back in the picture at the top end. I find it really disappointing that we have left ourselves in that position.”

Ranting about last weekend’s away defeat to Reading Allardyce continued:

“We will not win every game at home. We have got to get points away from home, and Saturday was an ideal opportunity to put one in the bag. We scored in the 76th minute and had 14 minutes to see out. But we committed suicide by conceding a very basic goal, really, that we should deal with 99 times out of 100, or 999 times out of a 1,000. We would have been three games undefeated and broken the problem away from home by getting one point, but the goal we conceded has made life extremely difficult.”

So is that really all the Geordies need, some guts away from home? Or will the club’s rather stellar home form be enough to achieve your goals this, Sam’s first, season?
