There is little doubt that unless Russia really goof up in the EURO 2008 qualifiers, Steve McClaren will be out of a job, unless he is brought in as a pundit for the tournament, but that isn’t a nice thought at all. McClown’s presence would only serve to make Mark Lawrenson’s haircut look avante garde, and Ian Wright sound intelligible.
Now McClaren’s problems have increased still further, Man City & England defender Micah Richards has only gone and got himself injured. Bah! Well at least McClown and Sven can weep on the phone to each other…
Richard’s is set to have a scan and Sven and McLaren will probably await the results whilst shivering in fear and sucking each others thumbs.
And to make matter’s even more depressing the Daily Telegraph is reporting that Man Utd right back Gary Neville is hovering over Steve McClaren like an overattentive waiter. Neville may be recalled to the England team, but he is only returning from injury and will play a Man Utd reserves game tonight. All this will not help matters for a beyond must-win game for England against Croatia.
