There are two schools of thought on Carlo Cudicini. The first is that he is wonderfully loyal servant to Chelsea Football Club who is unlucky to be playing at the same club as the best goalkeeper in the Premiership. The second is that he is a bloody idiot who has wasted his talent by chasing a huge paycheque rather than first team football. You’ll be able to judge the man himself for the next month or so as he replaces Petr Cech between the sticks at Stamford Bridge. As the BBC report:
The 25-year-old underwent a scan at Chelsea’s Cobham training ground today and a small [in his calf] revealed.
Cech suffered the injury in Tuesday’s Champions League draw with Schalke 04 and was replaced by Carlo Cudicini.
Having left the Veltins Arena in Gelsenkirchen on crutches fears were raised that Cech could require surgery.
“I don’t know exactly how it happened,” said Cech. “I only know that I felt a pain from the 10th minute of the match.
“Nevertheless I played the first half. I feel bad that I will be out right now when myself as well as my team are both doing well.”
Coming at a time when John ‘one day I must manage this club’ Terry is already injured is Chelsea’s season about to hit the same wall it did around this time last year? Or is Carlo going to finally prove his worth?
