Everton’s Yakubu Finally Coming Good?

Everton’s David Moyes has gone back to the legendary prophecy : “Feed the Yak and he will score” and is now stuffing various Hams, Black Puddings, Pork Pies, and literally any meat product he can find, down Yakubu’s grateful throat. Confident that he has now started feeding the Yak in the manner that he had previously been accustomed to, Moyes told the Liverpool Echo that heis Nigerian superstar is starting to hit top form. Moyes said:

“I’ve always said to him his work rate will be vitally important, but if we’d wanted a striker who would run all round the pitch we probably wouldn’t have targeted Yakubu. We wanted a player who would get on the end of passes and score goals to elevate us up the table – and that’s three he’s scored in the Premier League now and another one in the cup, so he’s beginning to do what we wanted. Some players come into a new club and settle straightaway, but it does take others a little time and Yak is starting to find his feet now.”

Mr Yakubu is certainly starting to find the back of the net, and he even managed to complete a full 90 minutes for the first time in an Everton shirt on Saturday. Rumours that he was greeted with a standing ovation in the dressing room for this amazing feat of endurance remain unconfirmed.
