Manchester City’s Hart is one of a great generation fo young British keepers

How many good young keepers do Man City need? That’s what the tabloids are asking this morning. Well, considering Kasper Schmeichel has reputation built on luck and a famous name, one should just about do it. And guess what, he’s only bloody English. That’s right, an English keeper who isn’t Calamity James or roly poly Robinson. We are truly blessed.

His name: Joe Hart. His biggest fan, Sven Goran Eriksson:

“He’s a big, big talent and will be better and better,” Eriksson said. “The saves he made were excellent. He’s an under-21 international already and if you’re under-21 goalkeeper in the national team you’re supposed to be one of the future England goalkeepers, although Scott Carson, of Aston Villa, is also very good.”

And let’s not forget Ben Foster. The future of English goalkeeping is suddenly looking rosy, who’d of thunk it?
