That means “we have to work out a pay off” in chairman-ese. And Jones said:

And that means you will have to pay big if you want to get rid of me in manager-ese. It’s become a second language in the Championship these days.
So, is this fair? Jones is a damn good manager, he’d turn it round given time, wouldn’t he?
