Chelsea Start To Mirror Last Season’s Cripplefest.

It’s deja vu all over again as Chelse suffer injuries to vital players yet again. Avram Grant’s cripple list is growing by the second. There is nothing more exciting like an injury crisis to get managers complaining, well maybe refereeing mistakes. But Jose or Sir Alex or Little Sammy (all the greats) love to have a good complain about only having half a squad available. So will Avram step up into the big league now that John, Petr and Paulo have been joined on the treatment table by Ricardo Carvalho. Added to such fellows as Petr Cech, John Terry and Paulo Ferreira is now Mr Carvalho – so basically a hearty chunk of Chelsea’s defence then.
The Sun‘s Ian McGarry is telling us that Carvalho could be out for around eight weeks, the Portuguese defender had to come off in the first half against Everton, and after the scan on his back today the prognosis is bad – he has completely nackered up his spine and won’t be allowed to do any physical exercise for a whole month. Doctor Henrique Jones said:

“Ricardo has suffered fractures of the small bones on his second, third and fourth vertebrae and will be out for eight weeks.”

This is a major blow for Avram Grant, especially as Chelsea’s lack of League success last season was partially attributed to the absence of stalwarts like Terry and Cech, will Chelsea be able to face up to these injuries yet again?

Anyway, the rumour we’ve heard is there isn’t an injury crisis at all, the players are just all at home practicing for John Terry’s famous Pro-Evo party. And getting £100,000-a-week for the pleasure. It would make you sick if the money didn’t come from a billionaire with an ‘interesting’ business background.
