… The Sun is reporting that beard stroking football guru Rafa Benitez has set his sights firmly on the Premier league this season and not on the Champions League.
Benitez, whose team won the whole bloomin’ Champions League two years ago and got to the final again last season, said:
“The priority for this season is the Premier League — and we’re in a better position to do that this season than before. When you’ve won the Champions League, FA Cup, Community Shield and Super Cup, people ask what about the Premier League? That’s normal. When I signed, the team wasn’t winning much. The problem was we started to win them in the first year. To play seven finals and win four trophies is not bad in three years. But if we need to win only one, then the Premier League is the priority.”
But does this proclamation represent Rafa’s true thoughts or is this just in response to Liverpool’s grotty form in the Champions League?
