Tottenham Boss Stands By His Problem Child

The Daily Mail is reporting that Tottenham manager Juande Ramos is standing right by his goakeeper, giving Paul Robinson his earnest assurances that his roving eye isn’t ogling any new ‘keepers. Despite Robinson’s sub standard form, Ramos’ reported desires to make him lose 10lbs, the fact that even spineless Steve McClaren dropped him, and reports that Spurs are having a gander at two goalies; Schalke’s Manuel Neuer and Udinese’s Samir Handanovic – Ramos still claims he is loyal to Robinson.
Ramos said: ”

Paul Robinson is an absolutely vital part of our team, he is very much a heavyweight in the team and we can’t do without him. Everything written about him has not come out of my mouth and I have not asked for a goalkeeper to come to the team.”

And Ramos reckons the decision by Second-chance Steve to drop Robinson, which then cruelly blew up in his face proves that Robinson is vital to England’s fortunes…hmmm. Ramos said:

“With such a negative result of the decision, it is very positive for Paul Robinson, he should feel very strengthened by this. It shows he is absolutely essential for his national team.”

So Paul Robinson will continue to be Tottenham’s number one, and he is “vital to England’s fortunes”.
