Arsenal’s Adebayor Tells Lehmann: Sit Down, Shut Up!

It’s probably fair to say that Emmanuel Adebayor is speaking on behalf of the entire Arsenal squad, as well as the nation, when he urges Jens Lehmann to stop bleating to the press about his current substitute status at Arsenal.

“According to the manager, we cannot change Almunia at the moment so Jens should try to be more patient. Lehmann wants to play because he is an international and sitting on the bench could harm his chances with the national team. But I think he just has to still continue fighting for his place because one day he will get his place back. He needs to calm down and just concentrate on working hard.”

The German keeper was given a reprieve after making a horrendous mistake in Arsenal’s first match of the season against Fulham, which led to the Cottagers taking an early lead. He followed this up with another blunder at Ewood Park, costing the league leaders two points against Blackburn.

While Manuel Almunia had a game to forget against Man United a month ago, he’s just about doing enough to deserve his place in the Gunners’ first team.
