Falkirk boss John Hughes has commanded that his young 19 year old midfielder Scott Arfield is the best young player within the league. However, players such as Aiden McGeady (21) have been stated as that of the best player in the Scottish Premier League let alone the best young player.

Hughes asserted:
“I think its fair to say that Scott is the most promising young talent in Scottish football at present,” said Yogi.

“He’s totally fearless and his confidence is sky high. He has a superb attitude. I’m well aware that there have been scouts from English clubs lurking in the stands lately and one or two of them have asked if he can go down on trial with them but he’s past that stage. It’s clear to see how good he is just by watching him play.”

Whilst the general quality of the players in the Scottish Premier League is not superior to that of the English Premier League, we can be sure to see an array of youngsters move up through the ranks. With promising younger players like Arfield, the chances of some Scottish Premier League teams making the English Premier League is becoming more and more likely.
