Now that Tottenham are through to the knockout stages of the UEFA Cup, the Daily Mail is trying to stir up a bit of a frenzy by saying that they “will be among the bookies’ favourites to win the trophy” . If they do hit the heights of winning the whole thing, it’ll be Juande Ramos’ third UEFA Cup success in a row – so the Spaniard has a proven pedigree of winning it. And despite, or because of, their League form – the UEFA Cup could be somewhere where the Spurs players can shine and remove themselves from their depressing progress in the Premier League.
The Daily Mail reports that Ramos is trying to manage expectations at Tottenham despite the 1-1 draw with Anderlecht that has got them through to the last 32. When asked about Tottenham’s chances of bagging the UEFA Cup for their sparse trophy room, Ramos said: :
“We’re far from achieving this. We have to wait for the draw, we have to get better because we look a bit vulnerable.”
