Everton’s Yakubu: Starting to come good, and lose the flab and laziness?

Everton’s record signing Yakubu yesterday shot his team to victory with a hattrick in the Toffees’ 3-0 win over Fulham at Goodison Park, previously derided for his laziness and lack of ball control, Yak is now getting an increasingly large appetite for goals, and has now scored 8 goals in 10 starts for Everton. Whisper it only quietly around Goodison, but their fans are starting to think that they may have a 20 goal a season man on their books, something that has been a gaping hole in Everton’s line-up for years.
Everton manager David Moyes was full of praise after the game, he beamed:

“Yakubu does what he does best – scored goals. He is getting better at the other things we want from him, but his strength is scoring goals and he’s done it everywhere he has been. He scored three in the second half, and I think if we had scored six no-one could have questioned it. Some of our football in the second half was as good as we have played.”

So, forget about Giggs being underrated, maybe Yakubu deserves more credit.
