TRANSFER RUMOURS: Arsenal, Tottenham, Liverpool, Everton, West Ham, Celtic, Manchester United, Chelsea, Celtic, Manchester City, and Middlesbrough.

Sportingo’s Mark Apostolou has again sliced through the midweek boredom with a rapier’s flourish…

Arsenal and Spurs chase £20m Frenchman; Liverpool star’s £6m Everton move; West Ham man bound for Celtic…And don’t rule out major moves by Manchester United, Chelsea, Manchester City, Middlesbrough, and Charlton as the January transfer window draws near.

It’s been talked about for some time, but it appears that Liverpool midfielder Momo Sissoko may be on his way out of Anfield sooner rather than later. And he may be moving very close to home as Everton are now interested in signing the Mali international (Daily Mail).

The 22-year-old tough tackler has demanded showdown talks ahead of the transfer window opening and it seems clear that Rafa Benitez needs funds from sales to invest in new talent. At £6m Momo appears to be one of few players the Spaniard can afford to lose.

Everton are just one of many teams reportedly interested in picking up the former Auxerre and Valencia man, and this will clearly not make Sissoko any more popular, but it seems more likely he might opt for the pack of Italian teams reportedly staking an interest, including Juventus and Inter Milan.

Marseille’s 21-year-old creative talent Samir Nasri is reportedly drawing interest from both Arsenal and Tottenham (various). A £20m bid has been mentioned for the youngster who returned to Champions League action against Liverpool last night, after an absence through injury, and looked to be about the only decent prospect in a disappointing Marseille team when he came on as sub.

Nasri has been a mainstay at Marseille for a couple of years now and has also done a good job at national level and, given his side’s poor run of form, which has left them rooted in mid-table mediocrity, a move seems imminent. But the price seems a little steep to me. Juande Ramos could do with a creative midfielder or two and Nasri would also fit nicely into the Gunners squad, so this could be a tight one. That is, of course, if there is a grain of truth in the rumour. Chelsea, Manchester City, Manchester United and even Middlesbrough are also supposedly homing in on the Marseille youngster.

West Ham’s Scottish international defender Christian Dailly, recently on loan at Southampton, has become the subject of interest of a move back across the border to Celtic (various). The veteran has found chances under Alan Curbishley hard to come by, and the former Dundee United man has not been picked since the Hammers were embarrassed 4-0 by Charlton in February.

Clearly Dailly is nearing the end of his career but he could prove to be a wise squad signing for Gordon Strachan and clearly he would cost next to nothing. He may be keen to end his career on a high and could find himself tasting Champions League football for the first time in his 17-year career.
