There’s no certainty that Liverpool will manage to sign Javier Mascherano and according to the Daily Telegraph, the Merseyside club are lining up a Plan B in the form of Portsmouth midfielder Sulley Muntari. The 23-year-old Ghanaian said:
“I want to end up at one of the biggest clubs. That is every player’s dream. Of course I will try my best here and help Portsmouth win many things, and maybe qualify for Europe, but eventually I would like to play for a bigger club.”
Muntari has been in impressive form for Pompey this season, most notably when scoring two goals in the 3-1 win at Aston Villa recently. However, perhaps when he was referring to one of the ”biggest club” he meant one capable winning the Premier League title, such as a Manchester United or an Arsenal. After all if he’s happy to qualify for Europe with Portsmouth, then the only way up is to challenge for the title.
But playing well for an in-form Pompey team is very different to slotting into some of the best midfields in the world. Have any Liverpool fans seen enough of Sulley to comment?
