Things are getting more extraordinary at Stamford Bridge by the minute. According to the Daily Telegraph, Chelsea have put together a pretty little video montage, containing examples of other teams failing to control their players. This includes footage of Liverpool players remonstrating with the referee on Wednesday night when Peter Crouch was dismissed. What a loveable club they are!
Chelsea were charged by the Football Association last month after players reacted angrily to Michael Essien’s sending off at Derby following a challenge on striker Kenny Miller.
Following the latest charge, Chelsea are compiling a video of incidents involving players from other clubs that have gone unpunished, and that documentary evidence will include scenes on Wednesday following the sending off of Peter Crouch for a two-footed lunge on Mikel. Chelsea claim that following the red card, Atkinson was surrounded by furious Liverpool players.
This paranoid behaviour is reminiscent of Jose Mourinho revealing he had a 120-page dossier on Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger’s comments about Chelsea. Whatever next – recording nasty chants made by opposition fans and posting that off to the FA as well? Why can’t the Blues simply stick to the rules of the game and do everyone a favour?
