It’s prediction time for the last set of Premier League fixtures for 2007, and I am aiming to make my predictions as transparently clear as Crystal Gravy.

Saturday, 29 December 2007

West Ham 1-3 Manchester United – Carlitos’ return to Upton Park should yield a strong away win for Man Utd, with the Red Devils firing on all cylinders right now.

Wigan 2-1 Aston Villa – No doubt I will be utterly wrong with this one, but my prediction gut instincts tell me that Villa will be tired from their Stamford Bridge heroics, and Wigan will be too strong for them.

Birmingham 2-0 Fulham – I think that Birmingham should be suitably buoyed by their 3-0 thrashing of ‘Boro, and Fulham should be suitably deflated after their 5-1 whupping at the hands of Spurs. Birmingham will have to make do without Kapo though, so I’m going for a sensible John Major-esque 2-0 home win.

Chelsea 1-2 Newcastle - I smell an upset here, even though Newcastle have been thoroughly dire recently, I think that Big Sam will try to capitalise on the wounded Chelsea behemoth that is staggering into the New Year with a phalanx of injuries.

Everton 1-1 Arsenal - A home win could be on the cards, but if Everton play Pienaar, Gravesen, and Arteta in the midfield as they did against Bolton, they could be in for a shock. Granted, Arsenal’s form has been iffy of late, but in my mind that means a return to form could be around the corner.

Portsmouth 3-1 Middlesbrough – I fancy a solid home win for Pompey in this game at Fratton Park, and without suspended captain George Boateng, Boro could be in for a beating.

Sunderland 0-1 Bolton – I’m expecting a tight away win for Megson’s men, but with Bolton ‘keeper Jussi Jaaskelainen doubtful this could be very tight.

Tottenham 2-0 Reading – Ledders is back, Tottenham are winning, and they no longer resemble a man with a dodgy hangover (goals flowing at both ends) – so I’m going for a 2-0 win to Spurs.

Derby 2-1 BlackburnDerby played well against Liverpool, and I expect Jewell’s men to push on from that and pressure Blackburn from the start.

Man City 1-3 Liverpool - The Man City facade of fortress Eastlands is starting to fade, and I think Liverpool will be good value for a win here.

Agree with these predictions? Think they are total guff? Post your predictions please!
