The Liverpool defence hasn’t been too stingy in recent months, partly due to the missing Daniel Agger in central defence. In the past month, they’ve managed to keep just one clean sheet – and that was against Manchester ‘ten men behind the ball’ City. The Dane has seemingly been nearing a return from a metatarsal injury for weeks, yet the BBC report that he’s suffered another setback.
“It’s not easy to say when he will be back,” said Reds manager Rafa Benitez.
“He is going to see different surgeons and then we’ll be able to analyse the situation,” Benitez added.
Would Liverpool be in better shape if they’d had their first-choice central defensive pairing (Carragher and Agger) available all season? Sami Hyypia is getting a bit long in the tooth, while Alvaro Arbeloa hasn’t quite got the hang of being a centre-half!
