Robbie Keane: We can win silverware this season

Tottenham Hotspur is a club in apparent crisis. They wouldn’t possibly be able to clinch even a UEFA Cup for themselves through their league position and have to rebuild the side starting this January. Yet there is one player in this somewhat demoralized and incoherent Spurs side who believes that Spurs can win a silverware this season.

Goal.com quotes Spurs striker Robbie Keane as saying that Spurs can win at least a trophy this season. Spurs play Reading on Tuesday in the FA Cup third round replay and Keane believes that he can score twice to score his 100th goal for the North London club and become only the third player in the last 30 years to score 100 goals for Spurs after Glenn Hoddle and Teddy Sheringham.

This is what Keane says:

It would be great to reach 100 goals, preferably sooner rather than later. To reach that tally for a club like Spurs would be fantastic and to join some of the greats who have played for the club would be very special.

About winning silverware, Keane says:

It would be special to win a trophy. With this side we’re capable of doing it. We’re in all the cups and it would be great to reach a final.

Huge ambitions indeed. But can Spurs win a trophy this season? Well, let’s wait and watch.
