The Sun reports that Sir Alex Ferguson is in a mouth frothing rage over comments by BBC commentator Jonathan Pearce during his teams’ 6-0 roasting of Newcastle United.
After Rio Ferdinand and Wayne Rooney combined for United’s fourth, Pearce said:
“It’s a Manchester United romp — and they are all getting in on the act.”
A comment which, apparently, had BBC-hating Sir Alex incandescent with rage at this apparent reference to United’s Christmas party roasting orgy. A conveniently placed inside man told The Sun:
“The gaffer feels the BBC grabs every opportunity to have a laugh at United. Many at the club feel they have an agenda.”
And the BBC issued a blanket denial that the comment was anything but purely innocent:
“It was a completely innocent remark. He was only reacting to the game unfolding.”
So is there anything is Sir Alex’s gripe, or is this the mark of a paranoid loon who has a pathological hatred for the Beeb?
