Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is still confident that French midfielder Mathieu Flamini would sign a new contact with the club. He is wary of course that there are a number of clubs keen on getting the signature of the midfielder but he himself is equally eager to keep the player at the Emirates.
This is what Wenger told the club’s official website as quoted by Sky Sports:
Mathieu is free to talk, but the talks [with Arsenal] are ongoing. I am hopeful on it. I am not concerned.
Flamini has been given his fair share of first team football this season and the midfielder has looked comfortable and complimentary in the centre of the part with Cesc Fabregas. The player himself would love to stay on with this scintillating young Arsenal team and in most likelihood would sign an extension to his contract with the Gunners. That would be some joy to everyone associated with the club.
