Maniche: I want to win the Champions League with Inter

Portuguese international striker Nuno Maniche is a footballing journeyman. He has played in all parts in Europe, from Benfica and FC Porto in Portugal to Chelsea in England to CSKA Moscow in Russia to Atletico Madrid in Spain. Now the 30-year old midfielder is in Italy to don on the blue-and-black colours of Inter Milan.

Goal.com quotes Maniche as saying that he is immensely buoyed by the 6-month loan transfer from the Vicente Calderon to the San Siro and is looking forward to lifting the UEFA Champions League with the Nerazzurri.

Maniche to Inter Channel:

It is a dream to play for one of the biggest teams in the world. I am proud to be another Portuguese figure in this squad that is proving to be very strong. Luis Figo told me so much about Inter, how this is like a big family and I’ll settle in really well. Inter want to win the Champions League and with this squad we have the chance to do really well.

Maniche is actually an extra liability to Roberto Mancini since Inter already have the largest squad in the Italian Serie A and one of the largest in Europe. But as Maniche correctly underlines, it is the European Cup that Inter would like to win most this season since with a healthy 7 point lead at the top of the table in the league, Inter are virtually assured of another scudetto catwalk. It remains to be seen whether they can conquer Europe too but there’s a considerable amount of doubt on what role Mniche would play for Inter in the Champions League.
