Rafa not eager to talk about future

Rafael Benitez is the man of the moment and all for the wrong reasons. Since Liverpool co-owner Tom Hicks’ unsavory newspaper interview last week when he said how he had discussed appointment Jurgen Klinsmann as the club manager earlier in the season, a constant sword has been hanging over the Spaniard. Yet, as Sky Sports, reports Rafa is not too eager to discuss the issue of his future at Anfield at the moment.

Liverpool demolished Luton Town 5-0 at Anfield in the FA Cup third round tie on Tuesday night with captain Steven Gerrard netting an exquisite hat trick. The win comes as a massive boost to the Reds who have slipped to an immense 12 points behind the Premiership leaders Manchester United in fourth position.

Rafa told Sky Sports 2:

We weren’t really thinking about it because we know it’s important to progress in the FA Cup. I was not thinking too much about this, I was thinking about the game. I’m really happy because we won 5-0 and progressed in the competition.

Well, Rafa appears to have gone tight-lipped after that Hicks newspaper revelation but he does the majority of the Liverpool fans and the whole of the Liverpool team on his side in this managerial tug-of-war. As long as Rafa can deliver the results on the pitch, his American employers George Giolllet and tom Hicks would have no chance whatsoever to kick him out of Anfield.
