There’s no denying that Newcastle united are a club in a crisis, although it must be admitted that with the appointment of Kevin Keegan, rays of hope are bleeding in through the window. Newcastle play Bolton Wanderers in the English Premier League this weekend and the Bolton boss Gary Megson believes that it will be the Geordies who will hog the limelight.

Megson goes as far as to suggest that under Keegan, Newcastle will rise to such a level that they will be able to compete with the Big Four in the Premier league. Goal.com quotes the former West Bromwich Albion manager as saying that Newcastle will soon change the Big Four scenario to a Big Five one.

Megson says:

We are the pantomime horse and not the main cast It will be a carnival atmosphere. I don’t even know if the Geordies will even realise who they are playing against. We accept that and we’ve got to try and not get involved. I was up there when Kevin was manager before – he’s got that aura about him. He’s worked at places where there has been a vast amount of money and he will have that again. Kevin will go around the world now and look at the world’s best players. The Big Four will soon become the Big Five with the money available.

Bold prediction indeed although at this point of time it does sound somewhat ridiculous, doesn’t it?
