After the sheer lunacy of the past week the entire country was eyeing Newcastle’s fixture with Bolton and expecting a multifarious goal orgy with all the trimmings, what we got instead was a soporific 0-0 draw with all the style and panache of week-old roadkill.
Manager Kevin Keegan moved quickly to calm the doubters saying:
“I told the players not to be disappointed.
“We were missing a lot of players. Take that into consideration and forget the hype and it’s actually a good result.
“It will improve from here. Maybe we will get players in – we’re a quality squad but we are a small squad.”
So with only two weeks left before the transfer window slams shut, just how many players is Kevin Keegan going to need to ship in.
