Spurs manager Juande Ramos is ready to splash the proverbial cash in the next few days, with the Daily Telegraph reporting that the Spaniard is on the verge of signing Juventus midfielder Tiago for £9.7 million.
The Portuguese international spent a season at Stamford Bridge during the 2004/5 season, making 34 league appearances, although 13 of these were from the bench. Manchester United fans may remember him scoring a magnificent long-range effort against them at Old Trafford towards the end of the season.
The spending doesn’t appear to end there for the north London club, with the same newspaper reporting Spurs interest in Hertha Berlin’s Gilberto and Valencia full-back Miguel. The former had the following to say:
The left-sided player said: “I’ve had many offers from England, Portugal and Brazil and given them careful consideration. I’m accustomed to winning trophies with Brazil, but now I’d like to do the same at club level.”
Perhaps Tottenham aren’t the club for him after all!
