Manchester City have a genuine chance of signing talented German international striker Lukas Podolski this month. Sky Sports reports that his club Bayern Munich are ready to let him go on loan for until the rest of the season in an effort to boost the striker’s chances of playing in the Euro 2008 finals in the summer.
The Bayern general manager Uli Hoeness says:
I want to help him to make it to the European Championships. And if we loan him out and everything goes well, we have done everything right. hen we have got him games and he comes back on July 1.
Only a loan move then for Podolski but that should be enough for Manchester City to pounce on the opportunity. City manager Sven-Goran Eriksson should be tempted to take the opportunity and import the German to the City of Manchester Stadium. Podolski is hungry for regular matches which he hasn’t got in the Bundesliga for Bayern this season.
