West Ham are looking towards Spain to bolster their defense. If Goal.com is to be believed, then the Hammers are keen to sign the Argentine defender Leandro Somoza.
The Argentine is currently on loan with the Andalucian strugglers Real Betis but has failed to carve out a regular place in the first team. He is actually on loan from La Liga high-flyers Villarreal who are not at all eager to welcome him back to El Madrigal. What Villarreal propose is sell the player straight on without even bothering to let him in at Villarreal and with the player continually getting frustrated on the Betis substitute bench, West Ham are planning to rescue the Somoza.
But the Premiership club isn’t the only one with an interest in the Argentine defender. Italian Serie A side Lazio too are preparing to hold talks with Villarreal this week. Seems like it could be a two-horse race for Leandro Somoza.
