The Gunners aren’t really used to losing. Especially against arch-rivals Tottenham Hotspur, where they can boast a formidable recent record. Therefore, getting beaten 5-1 at White Hart Lane last night in the Carling Cup wasn’t really on the agenda, and it appears to have gotten a little too much for striker Emmanuel Adebayor.
The Togo international had come on as a second-half sub and netted to make the score 4-1 when he was involved in an altercation with Nicklas Bendtner. Captain William Gallas stepped in to try and calm things down and the Daily Telegraph report that the Arsenal skipper is citing inexperience as the reason for the clash.
“They know they have made a mistake and they will have to explain why they did that,” the defender said.
“I don’t know exactly what happened. I think everyone was disappointed about the score. It was very difficult to accept.
“They are both young and nervous but they have to understand. We lost our calm.”
It’s likely that Bendtner will be waking up with a sore nose this morning, but why exactly was his strike partner in a huff with the Dane? For not preventing the four goals his team had conceded?!
