Sunderland Echo has reported that Newcastle United manager Kevin Keegan wants Joey Barton to return to football soon. He wants few other players to return from injury as soon as well.
Keegan says:
There’s Nicky Butt and Alan Smith to come back for Arsenal, and I’m looking forward to Joey (Barton) getting back as well. Obviously we’ll have Emre when his suspension’s over, and the four African players.
While the others have been out of action for footballing reasons, Barton is actually facing two separate charges of assault in Hampshire. But his return to football would be certainly welcomes by Newcastle who really need tempo and guts in their side at the moment.
